India's 23-year-old opener Shubman Gill caught limelight during first home ODI against New Zealand as he smashed his maiden double-hundred.

In just his 19th ODI, the young batter scored his maiden double-hundred off just 145 deliveries. The right-handed batsman pulled off Lokie Ferguson for three consecutive sixes in the 49th over to complete his double century.

He was caught in the last over of Henry Shipley after scoring 208 off 149 balls laced with 19 boundaries and nine maximums.

Gill has now joined an elite list of cricketers who scored double hundred in the ODI format. Previously, seven cricketers scored double hundred in this format. Gill is the eighth one and joined rest of the four Indian batters in the list.

Current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has scored three double hundreds followed by Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Ishan Kishan scoring one time each.

Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman, West Indies' Chris Gayle and New Zealand's Martin Guptil have also scored a double century each.

It must be noted here that Gill's 208 helped India post 349-8 in 50 overs. Suryakumar Yadav made 31 off 26 whereas Hardik Pandya contributed 28.
